Holkar Stadium Indore Pitch Report: India has completely dumped Australia in the opening two Test matches of Border Gavaskar Trophy. The two teams will now head to the Holkar Stadium in Indore for the third Test of the series. A win is what require for Australia to stay alive in the series, whereas, a win for India will book their berth for the WTC finals.
Due to unfavorable conditions in Dharamsala, the Holkar Stadium in Indore was selected to host the 3rd Test match. This is only the third Test to be played at this ground, with the last one being held in 2019 between India and Bangladesh.
As with most Indian pitches, spinners are expected to dominate in this match. R Ashwin has played two games at this ground and has taken 18 wickets at an impressive average of 12.50. The average first innings score in Indore is 353 runs, while the average fourth innings score is just 153 runs. Therefore, both captains are likely to want to bat first after winning the toss, as the first few days of the match are likely to be the best for batting.
Owing to his lackluster form across formats, KL Rahul has been stripped from India’s Test vice captaincy. This might be a sign of him making way for the in-form Shubman Gill who has warmed the bench in the first two Tests of Border Gavaskar Trophy.
