Malwa Mahila Kabir Yatra – Dharti ki Bani-Heliyon ki Zubaani organized by Eklavya Sanstha concluded in Indore, it commenced on March 2 in Narmadapuram.
On the occasion of completion of 40 years of Eklavya Sanstha and 50 years of Hoshangabad Science Education Program (Hovishika), the Malwa Mahila Kabir Yatra – Dharti ki Bani-Haliyon ki Zubaani – starting from March 2, in the series of programs organized by the organization throughout the year. The finale took place at Hindi Sahitya Sabha Bhavan, Indore. The yatra started at Luniakhedi and reached Indore via Tonk Khurd and Sonkutch.
At the beginning of the program, Kabir singing in Malwa region, Suresh Patel said that the relevance of Kabir remains the same even today as it was before. He also highlighted the importance of the contribution of women singers.
Apart from this, satsangs were also organized on the social concerns of the poets of Bhakti period, their perspective on various social inequalities and its relevance in today’s time and our responsibilities, constitutional values, gender and caste questions and many other socio-cultural issues.
In the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh, the troupes of Kabir singers travel from village to town to take Kabir’s hymns to the people. In this tradition, which has been going on from generation to generation, usually male singers have been in the main role.
Significantly, Eklavya’s association with Kabir singers in the Malwa region has been there since the 1990s.
Eklavya expanded the folk tradition of Kabir singing through efforts such as ‘Kabir Bhajan and Vichar Manch’ (1991–1998), ‘Kabir in Schools’ (2008–2009) and later in 2011 ‘Strengthening Kabir’s recitation traditions in Malwa’ And have made continuous efforts for innovation.
